1. Introduction

The Department of Samurdhi Development ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Samurdhi FM mobile application and related digital platforms. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act No. 09 of 2022 of Sri Lanka.

2. Data We Collect

Samurdhi FM collects limited data strictly for functionality and improvement purposes:

  • Device Information: Non-identifiable information such as device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers to optimize streaming performance.
  • Usage Data: Basic analytics such as listening duration and frequency to improve our radio content and service quality.
  • Permissions: The application may request:
    • Phone State – to pause audio during incoming calls
    • Data / Wi-Fi Access – to stream radio content

3. Data Management and Contractor Role

The Department of Samurdhi Development acts as the Data Controller for all data processed through the Samurdhi FM platform. Our authorized technical partner, Yuwan Audio Visuals, acts as the Data Processor and is responsible for managing the technical infrastructure and domains (samurdhifm.com / samurdhifm.lk) on our behalf.

4. Third-Party Services

We may use trusted third-party services such as Firebase Analytics or Google Analytics to monitor application performance and stability. These third-party services operate under their own privacy policies, and we encourage users to review them separately.

5. Data Retention & Security

Samurdhi FM does not store personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, addresses, or national identity details unless you explicitly provide such information (for example, through a feedback or inquiry form). Any collected data is stored securely and retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill application functionality and legal obligations.

6. Your Rights

In accordance with the Sri Lanka Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your personal data where applicable
